One line at a time. (comments, thoughts etc...)

Post by Scorch »

Ok basically lets write a story, one sentence at a time. Ok it doesn't have to be a single sentence, just don't write the whole thing by yourself, as I am sure there are quite a few here who could turn it into an work of art (Glances at the Insect) Ahem...

Anyways as I said I will be gone for a week, but I look forward to reading what everybody has written when I get back.

I will start a new thread I ask all comments or questions go in this thread. so its easier to read the story

well it wasn't my idea. but i'm guessing it's ok to have some comedic value but to keep it on a more serious story-telling type genre
-LSD-

I guess Its up to everybody who takes part in it.

Comedy is one of my favorite styles, however there is too muchof a good thing. So I'm thinking just as long as the story doesn't become one huge jokefest. it should be fine.

I guess what I am saying is basically if you want the characters to joke with each other, or somthing funny or ironic happen to a character thats ok.

There seemsto be a lack of interest in this "project" whats the matter don't like how I started it? worried you have nothing to add? No creative juices flow through your veins? Don't want to mess up? Perhaps I didn't lay enough ground rules.

Not to worry. Personally I really don't care how good or bad you are at creative writting, I still believe its possible to write somthing, even if you don't want to add your own character. come on add to the story

If you are an experienced tribes writer (such as Ambush Bug, or some of the others here, whose names are currently slipping my mind) or even if you aren't experienced, go ahead and figure out some way to introduce your character (I pretty much made it a breeze for who ever wishs to write next to introduce their character in some way.) When I say introduce I don't mean give us their whole history right away, just get their body into the story somehow.

If you are inexperienced at writing you may introduce your character and simply watch until you feel like you want a peice of action.

Anyways there are 2 basic guidelines I like to follow in stories like these.

1) Have fun. Thats the most important thing.

2) Basically your not allowed to severly hurt or kill another persons character without a) getting permission from them, b) leaving some way for them to escape the situation you have put them in (a medic on hand, or perhaps the spinifusor disk hasn't reached him/her yet when you end your portion)

one more minor rule

3) You are not an all powerful super hero, your human, thus please don't hog all the glory for your character.

We each have our parts, and while I may have started the thread, I definently am not the leader. My character has his flaws.

So come and add your character, you don't have to use your tribe name if you want. Let us write a story.

PS This does work, I have done it 7-8 times before over on Sierra's board. Back in the old day before WebX I had 6 tales of battle done in this format Entitled "Write your own Tale of Battle" The first was successful, the second was also, the third failed, I forget about five and six but I believe they were the most successful (5 being more so), I believe when WebX rolled around I created another but that wasn't too good if I remember.

Perhaps I should of stuck with the title I know works, but I thought I'd try a diffrent title.

Anyways in the 7 ToBs I did that way several people joined in who had never written tribes fiction before. they picked it up quickly and got pretty good. I am sure we can do a much better job seeing as how we area tighter knit group IMHO and many know each other.
