I bought Far Cry

Lemmings took 1 disk.
MS Flight Sim 1.0 took two or three disks I think.
X-Wing took 6 and TIE Fighter took 8... I think.

How does the full game feel? Any different from the demo?
Just remember that back then, games didn't have to look good... they just had to be fun.
COLORS!

the 1-player game is loads of fun, with only 2 online modes, I feel extremely spoiled by UT2004, lol. I haven't even tried online game yet.

Ok, well, I finally got into it a bit this weekend. Turns out it has massive fits with my SBLive, but the built-in AC97 is OK. Strange! Anyway, the graphics are incredible. The ragdoll physics are just fine, not over the top. I have a Athlon XP 1800 and a GF4 4200, and the game will sure push the hardware! Minimum resolution is 800x600, but that's too low; I run at 1024x768, and it's nearly too low. It's got all the eye candy you could wish.

The AI is very good. Not super, but it does like to hide behind something, then run behind the next something while shooting at you. It'll throw grenades, too. Then again, I've not got it set on hard yet...

The gameplay is varied. You can walk/run/swim/crawl, of course, but also drive boats/jeeps/trucks/hanggliders/?. I shot a rocket into the side door of a flying helicopter this evening, while flying a hangglider. There were a couple of guys inside using guns mounted in the sides, shooting at me, of couse. Lots of weapons to choose from, lots of stuff to blow up.

*edit*
Forgot to mention that while the terrain is not deformable, there's a large number of objects that are not part of the terrain and can be moved/blown up. Pushing a box off a dock is an old example, but it's here. I was also nearly able to crush some enemies by pushing a round tank (like propane) off its stand down a hill onto them.

Edited by: <A HREF=http://pub141.ezboard.com/bxmenclan.sho ... ambit>XMEN Gambit at: 4/13/04 7:35 am

no helicopters
and one setting that seems to get the AI moving is to click the Balance box, they will ramp up to give you a challenge
I've made it to the sunken carrier, then I can only get so far before they beat me down.
