I bought it too. Had to give up on the special edition, though, so now I have to install SIX discs worth. Sigh.

(Stupid Best Buy...)

Yeah, I think they underestimated the popularity that the DVD edition had. In the past games that have come out on DVD and CD have had the DVD hersion not sell very well, maybe this is a good sign of things to come, I'd rather have the game on DVD, less cd's and the nice storage (much better then paper cd sleeves)

LoS/Soup has a server running onslaught. I'm having 3 problems with this game:
1)in 1-player games, my keyboard does not respond, and will quit completely(it is a MS wireless bluetooth) a problem I do not hav ewith any other game, I would consider, that is being demanding on my system, except when I disconnect this keyboard, and run witha ps2 one, it does the same things(sticking, which I thought was keys, but I've thoroughly cleaned now, and it does not respond at times) this isn't steady, or I wouldn't be halfway done with the tournament.
2)in 1-player games, if I enable my joystick, through the options console, problem #1 gets worse.
3)in multiplayer it takes SO long for the game to load, that most of the time, I will miss the first match in assault, or domination, any theories on improving this? could the DVD have fixed this??
and thanks Mal, I hope to see you soon!

forgot one nasty problem I've been having, if I play more that 3, or so maps of the 1-player game, I get a BSoD, might be a memory leak of some kind, I"m not sure, its just plain ugly to see

Nilk, I'd recommend you check your driver versions (MB, video, audio) and scour your system of adware/spyware. Those have been known to cause problems in the past...

The keyboard problem is weird. Might be your motherboard drivers, though. What kind of MB have you got?

For troubleshooting, try doing things like set the system to low-res software rendering, then set the video back and turn off the audio completely. Might help you isolate the issue.

XMEN member
Card-carrying DTM
OKL Fish-napper

Though a program be but three lines long, someday it will have to be maintained.
The Tao of Programming

Nilk's comp:
2500+ o/c'd to 2.2 ghz w/400 mhz fsb(MIGHT be the overclocking, but I highly doubt it, with this being a barton core, and the ram being as good as it gets(stability and speed wise)

2x256MB matched/tested pair of corsair pc3200 xms(has plug-and-frag, which auto sets the timings to the most stable settings at its current clock speed currently 2-3-6-2)

Asus a7v8x-e deluxe(I am using the onboard sound, and that made me think it might be the sound, so I will test that route first

PNY PeForce FX 5200 ultra(not my first choice of video card, was holding out, for a Golden Sample, but due to inadvertantly butchering me geforce4, I didn't have much choice)

160GB Samsung 150SATA(running on sata connector for mobo and power)

silverstone 460W PS

also have my old 40gig hooked up with a full winXP install, for back-up/medicinal purposes

running the latest nVidia drivers(5664)

Dude. Overclocking could certainly be an issue; some things are more picky than others. So, things to try, one at a time:

1. Set the clock back to normal speed
2. Update your MB drivers
3. Play sans sound
4. Play with software rendering

whelp, ran adaware, 2x then restarted, and got it to run at startup, with more areas scans, anyways just got done with 6 maps, one of which was a 40 minute double domination map, and no crashes, going to go with the spyware theory, and see what comes
