Microsoft's "Close Combat" series always did pretty well, but it's not first person; it's a squad game like X-COM. Are you specifically looking for first-person stuff? Because otherwise there's all the flight sims, naval sims, lots of things.
XMEN member
Card-carrying DTM
OKL Fish-napper

Though a program be but three lines long,
someday it will have to be maintained.
- The Tao of Programming
Life is complex; it consists of real and imaginary parts.

Deadly Dozen looks pretty cool. You can get WWII online now for 9.95. Deadly dozen for 19.95.
<img src=http://www.angelfire.com/rpg/Hewdamia/i ...

I just downloaded and played the Deadly Dozen demo...pretty cool. <img src=http://www.ezboard.com/intl/aenglish/im ... /smile.gif ALT=":)"> Just like most of these sorts of games, it has a pretty high learning curve. The training mission helps get you familiar with the weapons and formation commands.

*edit*
P.S. I liked the non-linear mission. <img src=http://www.ezboard.com/intl/aenglish/im ... s/wink.gif ALT=";)">
*edit*

<IMG SRC="http://webpages.charter.net/1ibcnya/mon ... heh, RJ, I'm thinking the opposite... I think the learning curve is too low and that the game is far too much of a shooter vs tactical game... (as you can tell, I don't like 'quake' games and quite despise 'historical' 'quake' games... I like Rainbow Six and Ghost Recon type games, quakie games make me feel far too much like a super d00d holding a plastic lazertag gun with the stamina, sometimes, to bunny hop all day long... I can go into a lecture on every thing I don't like about said games, but I'll be nice for now <img src=http://www.ezboard.com/intl/aenglish/im ... /smile.gif ALT=":)"> )

/me is very picky in what games he plays
* BlackRider-DTM starts writing down useful chat phrases in Latin...
LoS-Incitatus{DTM}: hehe phrases
LoS-Incitatus{DTM}: oh wait, thats how its spelled, DOH!
