And with that, I threw together a wishlist of parts which I'll post below. Budget is definitely a concern, but I also want to have this thing for as long as possible too. Definitely going for the most bang for the buck. Take a look and let me know what you think:

Well, It's been purchased! Hopefully parts will arrive by Friday and everything arrives in good shape. I upgraded to a Haswell chip and board, but other than that, everything else is the same.

Thanks! I think the Win8 non-pro version is $99 but I wanted to have all the goodies. The pricing between versions is weird.. You pay more to have the 32 and 64 bit versions together for those who are cluless. Typical M$ pricing game. So I grabbed the Pro 64bit. The $40 difference isn't that big in the grand scheme.

If UPS ever brings me my parts, I will be sure to give a review... they haven't updated the tracking, other than it has left the origin.. On Wed. AM...

Ont he other hand, Fedex delivered my case from NJ today. Saturday.. UPS is coming from Memphis.. Not sure how FedEx beat UPS here when they had farther to go.

Newegg has implmented UPS' tracking APIs horribly. Take your tracking numbers directly to the UPS website, you should see tracking updates there that dont appear on the newegg website.

I did that too, and there was just no updates from UPS. Nothing updated until last night, and it showed arrival to MSP yesterday at 5PM or something. But then this morning, there were all kinds of updates, as my stuff was out for delivery at 0535 today. :)

it's Alive! PC went together with no issues.. Now the task of getting Familliar with Windows 8.1 begins. Everything seems to be running just fine for now. Installing Tribes as we speak. :D

Day 4 mini- review..

First impressions? Holy fast. This machine is easily the fastest I've ever used or owned. I built an i7 system for my brother with a 1st gen i7 and this is faster than that one by far.

I have Tribes installed on my SSD, and I am usually 1st or 2nd choosing sides on map changes. Also, with Max detail and texture settings, it runs smooth as butter with no hiccups or slowdowns, even while I was downloading and installing Planetside 2 in the background. I have Vsync and framerate smoothing enabled, but it was still pegged at 60 fps in the console no problem. Played last night with Iceman and Duster, and wasn't near as bad as I remember, I just don't know the names of any of the maps we played on.. LOL

Windows 8.1 has taken some getting used to, and I still don't feel comfortable with it yet. I feel like I'm using someone else's PC right now instead of my own. That'll take some time to customize and set it up how I like it, I'm sure.

Overall, I am very happy with this setup. I will be adding an internal SD card reader this weekend, but do wish I had gotten a little bigger power supply in the event I lose my freaking mind and decide to add a second video card to this beast. I'm not 100% that a 650W will be able to support 2 graphics cards with this rig.
