Well, any of the big name brands' consumer-level routers will suit your needs, most likely. D-link, Linksys, Netgear, SMC, etc. I think all of them have browser interfaces to manage them and the menus are relatively easy to understand and use.

The question of wireless vs wired is a little different. You need to weigh a number of factors: convenience, cost, utility, security, etc.
Convenience: the biggest reason to go wireless - you don't have to run wires and trip over it, and so forth. Or you have a laptop and like to sit on the couch to read your email.
Security: If you have wireless and don't secure it, then anyone within range can use your internet, and maybe even get at your internal shared files. It is sometimes a little difficult to get wireless connections configured correctly, and troubleshoot them when there's a problem. Adding encryption multiplies those headaches.
Cost: Wireless is going to be more pricey, but not a lot, depending on the specifics.
Utility: If you don't actually utilize the advantages of wireless, there's not much point in getting it.

The only reason I've got wireless is so I can carry my laptop around the house. Well, that and I got my setup pretty cheap and thought I'd try it. When we built the house I wired it with Cat5, so running cable isn't an issue for me.

Oh, one more thing. Most wireless routers that include a switch have only three ports instead of four - the fourth is the one that is connected to the wireless stuff.

XMEN member
Card-carrying DTM
OKL Fish-napper

Though a program be but three lines long, someday it will have to be maintained.
The Tao of Programming

There's A D-Link Wireless Router I bought for a customer of mine a few weeks ago, and it has 4 wired ports, and all the Wireless stuff was taken care of internally. Honestly, I don't like the DLink Router, I think the interface is very unintuitive, and would not recommend it to any of my friends, but it does work well, and the price was sufficiently low enough that people buy them up like crazy.

"Never, Never, Never Quit" -Winston Churchill

Hmm. I bought my Dlink about a year ago, and the interface isn't bad (not great, either). It has 3 LAN ports and 1 WAN port - I assume you were counting only the LAN ports, Hat? I think my model number was like 704-P.

XMEN member
Card-carrying DTM
OKL Fish-napper

Though a program be but three lines long, someday it will have to be maintained.
The Tao of Programming

Yeah, I was only counting LAN ports. This was an 800 series I think, don't remember exactly.

"Never, Never, Never Quit" -Winston Churchill

I have a Linksys WRTG54 wireless router. Works great.

I used it a few times, but the 802.11g standard wasn't finalized yet, so the encryption wasn't good enough and I stopped using it. But now everything is finalized so I plan on upgrading the software and using it again.

I have an SMC Barricade wireless router... I hate it... the connection cuts in and out and the connection strength drops significantly after 20 feet. (maybe this can be trouble shooted... but I've given up)
COLORS!

There's a number of reasons why this could be happening that have nothing to do with the router, but it could be the router as well. No way to tell without doing some tests, and probably using some spare equipment.

XMEN member
Card-carrying DTM
OKL Fish-napper

Though a program be but three lines long, someday it will have to be maintained.
The Tao of Programming

Sure, you could bring it here. Since I've got a wireless router and card, and you've got a wireless router and card, we should be able to find the problem pretty quickly.

Worth the drive?
