No, never did DoD. Wouldn't mind doing so, though, and I have an application in at Lockheed. Well... I'm looking more for the standards document itself. The reason that I am having such a hard time finding it, is that it's not publicly available. You have to pay a buttload of money to get it.

I wish DoD had kept using MIL-STD's... at least you could find and download them for free.

Edited by: <A HREF=http://pub141.ezboard.com/bxmenclan.sho ... andtm>XMEN Ashaman DTM at: 5/2/03 12:43:44 pm

Send an email to Rudejelly, he worked for Lockheed and Vought. He may have some experience in the software you are looking for.

A buttload of money? During my original I found a site in French where you could download it for like 44 (francs? euros? dollars? wasn't sure). The site was in French but the doc itself was English.

XMEN member
Card-carrying DTM
OKL Fish-napper

Though a program be but three lines long, someday it will have to be maintained.
The Tao of Programming

Sorry Asha,

I haven't worked for a defense contractor in some years. I left Lockheed in early 1996. Even when I was there, I had very little to do with MIL-STD documents. I was just a little ole system administrator and network manager in a supporting/overhead cost center. I wasn't one of the hot-shot software engineers actually working on the weapon's systems that we developed and manufactured.

I wish I could help. It looks like IEEE and ISO, etc. have the market for their standards all sewn up. I couldn't find it anywhere without a big price tag. I guess that's how they recoup some of their publication and website costs.

If you were an IEEE member, you might have more luck. If you aren't, then you should be. It seems like you're in a field of work where IEEE membership would be a benefit to you. (not to mention you can get good group heath insurance through them)
