Outlook Express Loading Slow

Post by kirabby »

Maybe someone here can help me.<br>All of a sudden Outlook Express is taking it's own sweet time to load.<br>You click on the shortcut for it and that blue screen that says "outlook express" pops up but then it sits there for about a minute before the actual program loads.<br><br>I was told to upgrade IE and see if that helped but it didn't.<br>Any other suggestions?<br><br>Thanks! <p><img name="sig" src="http://www.thzclan.com/hosted/kirabby/sig.gif" border="0" usemap="#m_sig"><map name="m_sig"><area shape="rect" coords="149,30,293,49" href="http://pub19.ezboard.com/beverythingebay" target="_blank" title="Come chat with us at The Market!!" alt="Come chat with us at The Market!!" ><area shape="rect" coords="117,8,311,29" href="http://members.ebay.com/aboutme/kirabby" target="_blank" title="My eBay Auctions" alt="Kirabby's eBay Auctions"></map> </p><i></i>

hmm.. It might be that your database (stored emails) has gotten to big. If that's the case, you can split your emails into subfolders, and then compact it, and it might help. <p><!--EZCODE IMAGE START--><img src="http://www.xmenclan.org/xmengambit.gif"/><!--EZCODE IMAGE END--><br>XMEN member<br>Card-carrying DTM<br>OKL Fish-napper<br><br>Though a program be but three lines long, someday it will have to be maintained.<br><!--EZCODE ITALIC START--><em> The Tao of Programming</em><!--EZCODE ITALIC END--></p><i></i>

No, those folders are the ones I was talking about. <br><br>In Outlook Express, go to tools->options->maintenance, Clean Up Now, and Compact. Careful with the other buttons, looks like you could wipe out all your email that way.

OK we are running on windows XP and have 3 user accounts. Outlook is only running slow on one of the accounts. Do you think I should remove all the folders on that account and see if that works?<br> <p><center><img name="sig" src="http://www.thzclan.com/hosted/kirabby/sig.gif" border="0" usemap="#m_sig"><map name="m_sig"><area shape="rect" coords="149,30,293,49" href="http://pub19.ezboard.com/beverythingebay" target="_blank" title="Come chat with us at The Market!!" alt="Come chat with us at The Market!!" ><area shape="rect" coords="117,8,311,29" href="http://members.ebay.com/aboutme/kirabby" target="_blank" title="My eBay Auctions" alt="Kirabby's eBay Auctions"></map> </center></p><i></i>

It's only running slow on ONE account? Are any of the other accounts with the same provider? If so, that may do the trick, but if not then it might have to do with the provider - one of the first things OE does on loading is to check your mail.

Ya they are all the same provider. I just set up the second user yesterday and tested outlook there and it worked fine. I'll try to fiddle w/ it some more. <!--EZCODE EMOTICON START ;) --><img src=http://www.ezboard.com/images/emoticons/wink.gif ALT=";)"><!--EZCODE EMOTICON END--> <p><center><img name="sig" src="http://www.thzclan.com/hosted/kirabby/sig.gif" border="0" usemap="#m_sig"><map name="m_sig"><area shape="rect" coords="149,30,293,49" href="http://pub19.ezboard.com/beverythingebay" target="_blank" title="Come chat with us at The Market!!" alt="Come chat with us at The Market!!" ><area shape="rect" coords="117,8,311,29" href="http://members.ebay.com/aboutme/kirabby" target="_blank" title="My eBay Auctions" alt="Kirabby's eBay Auctions"></map> </center></p><i></i>
