Got all the parts for my new computer last week, went to Ice's house to put it all together, got it all put together and looking nice, then tried to turn it on. Nada. Nothing. Zilch.

The ASUS mobo was DOA.

you sure you had the correct ram speed?

I went through something like that before. Ordered a MB off of a Mwave, I believe, and got most of everything else from a little computer store in town or at Fry's. Put it all together and the damn thing wouldn't boot up. So I thought it was the MB and sent it back for a replacement. Tried again with the new MB and again it wouldn't boot up. Wonder what the chances were of getting two bad MB's. So I watched the little of the boot up sequence that does come up and researched the 4 diagnosing lights in the back to come to the conclusion that it was the processor. Went back to Fry's and ended up getting one that was even faster then I originally intended. Plop the sucker in and nothing again. By this time I had been working on this thing for nearly 3 weeks, including the time I waited for the replacement MB to come. Read carefully into the MB manual and couldn't find a culprit. Decided that I would try something stupid as a last ditch effort and put in my old processor from the computer I was replacing and the dang thing started. Went into bios and saw that the MB wasn't adjusting itself to the processor as it should have, which is also stated in the manual that it would have. Made the changes needed and put in the new processor and everything went fine from there. Never had a problem with that system since, besides 2 hard drives going bad in it later on. That system has since been retired and replaced with my new duel core system.

No doubts about having the correct RAM speed. Don't have an old processor to put onto the board, either. We didn't see anything show up on the screen at all so we could not see any of the boot process. Tried removing all of the components one by one and still got no love. Ice is the one that did the troubleshooting. Given the number of machines he's built, when he says the mobo is DOA it's really DOA. Just hoping Newegg can get me as new one fast

Bummer.

Ice should be able to try with a different mobo, or different processor, to see if it POSTs. I'm sure if he had the parts on hand he would've.

I was looking forward to reading about how well you liked it.

Powersupply tester said the PS was good. No POST, just motherboard power light came on. BUT...there was a nice burning smell coming from somewhere on the board. I think a power resistor gave out on the board. Just a bad part I guess.

Ya, darn it, once you let the smoke out they don't work right anymore.
