Ok need help

Post by lynxbat »

ok I am usually one to fix my own probs with my comp but I am stumped on this one.

I cannot open internet explorer at all now. I click the link, or the exe and I get about 3-5 secs of busy mouse and then nothing. I have checked my proccesses and no IE ever pops up. But interesting enough if I change my default browser to something else, IE will ask if I want it changed back when I click the shortcut. I have tried /sfc /scannow, installing new IE, running back to a restore point, virus scan, everything within my realm of knowledge on PC. Nothing, no difference same thing. I really don't want to reinstall, so plz someone help.

Oh and I did search the knowledge base and found nothing similiar

I have run into a similar issue on Rogue's PC, but she was running an old install of Win98. I suggested that she start using the Win2k that was also installed on her machine, and so she has. But I never found a good solution to that problem either. You might have to settle for using Netscape, Mozilla, or Opera.

Of course, if IE truly was separate from Windows, you could just uninstall it and reinstall it, without any effect upon the OS, right?
