Iceman pulls a stupid stunt....

And crashes his system.

In an effort to resolve some download speed issues I decided to mess with the registry...and crash. I completely crapped out my XP system. I had to load XP on another drive just so I could recover my files.

I will be reformatting and reloading XP on my big drive again, but this means I will be out of pocket during the evenings for the next week until I can rebuild the whole thing. Luckily I was able to save all my data files and Tribes configs.

Anyone have any ideas what the Outlook Express mailbox files are named and where they are stored for XP????

<embed align="left" src="http://www.thzclan.com/avatars/ezice.swf" menu="false" quality="high" bgcolor="#000000" width="217" height="166" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" pluginspage="http://www.macromedia.com/shockwave/dow ...

XMEN Iceman [DTM]
Founder and Leader of the Base Tribes XMEN Clan
Proud member of the Dragon Talon Mercenaries teamplayers Guild
Citizen of New Fenecia

"You weren't much of a challenge" - T2 bot after killing Iceman

- click on avatar for links - no, not sausage links!

If you are talking mail files, I believe the extension is .eml

As for where they are stored, it depends on version of Outlook you have. I've seen it store the data in a pretty deep directory (some weird thing, but it was under /system), and I've seen it store into the My Documents directory.

<left>Dragon Talon Mercenary
Member of the XMEN
Have a Nice Day!

"Politics, war, martial arts;
these are tools to bend the
universe to your will."</left>

Edited by: <a href=http://pub3.ezboard.com/uxmengambit.sho ... ge=EN>XMEN Gambit at: 7/14/02 8:16:26 pm

I'm pretty sure that the address book files are .wab

And it looks like the inbox files are here:

C Documents and Settings\Administrator\Local Settings\Application Data\Identities\{B90AD46A-C2F8-4902-87A8-3257A9E7504E}\Microsoft\Outlook Express\Inbox.dbx

With other folders stored in that same directory with a .dbx extension.

Remember that I am running Win2k Pro, and I either got Outlook Express from the Win2k CD (part of the OS), or I got it from Office 97. It's one or the other, and I can't remember which. (This also determines where your files will go.)

<left>Dragon Talon Mercenary
Member of the XMEN
Have a Nice Day!

"Politics, war, martial arts;
these are tools to bend the
universe to your will."</left>

Edited by: <a href=http://pub3.ezboard.com/uxmengambit.sho ... ge=EN>XMEN Gambit at: 7/14/02 8:16:26 pm

I did...but I messed with the registry entry dealing with which was the "last known good configuration". So when I chose that I pulled the wrong one. I was stuck in an ugly loop.

<embed align="left" src="http://www.thzclan.com/avatars/ezice.swf" menu="false" quality="high" bgcolor="#000000" width="217" height="166" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" pluginspage="http://www.macromedia.com/shockwave/dow ...

XMEN Iceman [DTM]
Founder and Leader of the Base Tribes XMEN Clan
Proud member of the Dragon Talon Mercenaries teamplayers Guild
Citizen of New Fenecia

"You weren't much of a challenge" - T2 bot after killing Iceman

- click on avatar for links - no, not sausage links!
