I ain't going to worry about it...since the human eye CANNOT tell the difference...and your system is stable now. Anything over 30-35fps the human eye cannot tell the difference. Movies run at 30fps. I don't know why people have such a hang up on Frames per second. Sorry for the anger, but this is a non-issue. I run at the same as you.

Have fun, it just doesn't matter.

<embed align="left" src="http://www.thzclan.com/avatars/ezice.swf" menu="false" quality="high" bgcolor="#000000" width="217" height="166" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" pluginspage="http://www.macromedia.com/shockwave/dow ...

XMEN Iceman [DTM]
Founder and Leader of the Base Tribes XMEN Clan
Proud member of the Dragon Talon Mercenaries teamplayers Guild
Citizen of New Fenecia

"You weren't much of a challenge" - T2 bot after killing Iceman

- click on avatar for links - no, not sausage links!

Actually, Ice, Films run at 24fps. And best, as long as you're getting a steady 50-60fps, don't worry about it. once you start fluctuating, then it's time for some tweaking of settings.

Why Do I Always Die?!?!?!?!

Thanks, sorry about that, but I worked hard to get his system stable and fast. Frames don't bug me once they get above a certain point. As long as the game play is smooth that is all that counts. Now he just needs a broadband connection to go with his killer rig.

<embed align="left" src="http://www.thzclan.com/avatars/ezice.swf" menu="false" quality="high" bgcolor="#000000" width="217" height="166" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" pluginspage="http://www.macromedia.com/shockwave/dow ...

XMEN Iceman [DTM]
Founder and Leader of the Base Tribes XMEN Clan
Proud member of the Dragon Talon Mercenaries teamplayers Guild
Citizen of New Fenecia

"You weren't much of a challenge" - T2 bot after killing Iceman

- click on avatar for links - no, not sausage links!

Isn't the human eye able to tell the difference at anything below 60 (or is it 72?).

I know that 30 is what TV's run at, and that number was chosen by how many holes could be drilled into a disc and still be a number that goes into 60 (for 60 seconds).

<left>Dragon Talon Mercenary
Member of the XMEN
Have a Nice Day!

"Politics, war, martial arts;
these are tools to bend the
universe to your will."</left>

Edited by: <a href=http://pub3.ezboard.com/uxmengambit.sho ... ge=EN>XMEN Gambit at: 7/14/02 8:16:26 pm

Yeah, the Human eye can see everything below 60fps, but at 30 things are still smooth... that's why you need to have your refresh rate set so high so you don't get headaches.

Why Do I Always Die?!?!?!?!

Aha!

That makes sense. Though I thought the refresh rate had to be high to prevent aliasing with your monitor.

<left>Dragon Talon Mercenary
Member of the XMEN
Have a Nice Day!

"Politics, war, martial arts;
these are tools to bend the
universe to your will."</left>

Edited by: <a href=http://pub3.ezboard.com/uxmengambit.sho ... ge=EN>XMEN Gambit at: 7/14/02 8:16:26 pm

Nope. Just to prevent detectable flicker.

Aliasing is also known as "jaggies" and is unaffected by the refresh rate, but a higher resolution will of course smooth them out.
XMEN member
Card-carrying DTM
OKL Fish-napper

Though a program be but three lines long,
someday it will have to be maintained.
- The Tao of Programming
Life is complex; it consists of real and imaginary parts.

it's not the 60fps that bothers me. its that it dorps when 3 or more people get in my screen.

No, not that aliasing Gambit!

The other kind, like when you overlap two signals; the lower frequency one will be the waveform that you see, while the higher frequency one will alter the smoothness of the lower frequency one, and if there is a phase difference, it will appear to 'move'.

Also the same thing happens when you look at a car's tires on the freeway and they appear to reverse direction. Same thing, since your eyes can only detect things so fast and your brain interprets that info in a certain way.

<left>Dragon Talon Mercenary
Member of the XMEN
Have a Nice Day!

"Politics, war, martial arts;
these are tools to bend the
universe to your will."</left>

Edited by: <a href=http://pub3.ezboard.com/uxmengambit.sho ... ge=EN>XMEN Gambit at: 7/14/02 8:16:26 pm

Ooh! A good example of what I mean is when you watch a movie or TV show that has a TV broadcast in the background on it (one that's not 'cleaned up' in the effects department).

<left>Dragon Talon Mercenary
Member of the XMEN
Have a Nice Day!

"Politics, war, martial arts;
these are tools to bend the
universe to your will."</left>

Edited by: <a href=http://pub3.ezboard.com/uxmengambit.sho ... ge=EN>XMEN Gambit at: 7/14/02 8:16:26 pm

Beast, that has to do with your connection. Whenever there is that much going on the data passing back and forth between you and the server is intense. The lack of bandwidth becomes the choke point. I will prove it to you at the LAN party. Plus we can tweak your graphics setting there also.

<embed align="left" src="http://www.thzclan.com/avatars/ezice.swf" menu="false" quality="high" bgcolor="#000000" width="217" height="166" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" pluginspage="http://www.macromedia.com/shockwave/dow ...

XMEN Iceman [DTM]
Founder and Leader of the Base Tribes XMEN Clan
Proud member of the Dragon Talon Mercenaries teamplayers Guild
Citizen of New Fenecia

"You weren't much of a challenge" - T2 bot after killing Iceman

- click on avatar for links - no, not sausage links!
