C Robots, a game of hacking skill

Post by Scorch »

This is a game where you write a shall program consisting of code written in a modified version of C (very limited version I might add) and you program it to move and shoot and destroy another robot, you then pit your bot against another bot. I was wondering if anybody here had heard of this (other versions may be called P robot for Pascal) and if so could they help me with some ideas for kick arse bots? if you would like I can get you the program (it fits on a floppy) so you can try it out its an old dos program however

Heheh. I'm up for it. <img src=http://www.ezboard.com/intl/aenglish/im ... /devil.gif ALT=":evil"> Send me the program.

I tried a version of CoreWars once. Essentially the same thing, but it's 2 assembly code programs running in the same memory 'arena'. You win by either breaking the NME program (say, still a NULL somewhere) or by stealing all the CPU cycles. I like the sound of this one of Scorch's better, though.

And there's a commercial product similar to this on the shelves now. Called "Mindrover". Give it a look.
XMEN member
Probationary DTM
OKL Fish-napper

Here, let me deal you in...

Actually, I don't know yet. I DO have other things to do with my time, you know. <img src=http://www.ezboard.com/intl/aenglish/im ... /smile.gif ALT=":)"> Like my Mother-in-law is staying with us this week, my 4-year-old daughter is having severe allergies and is scheduled for surgery in a couple weeks, got Tribes, got other games I'm playing, got a couple avatars to work on, y'know. This and that. <img src=http://www.ezboard.com/intl/aenglish/im ... /laugh.gif ALT=":lol">

I downloaded it, looked at the docs, ran a test sample at about Mach 21. Boom boom game over what happened? So I need to figure out a way to slow it down so I can watch, examine the code samples, etc.

I WILL get there. Just wait.
XMEN member
Card-carrying DTM
OKL Fish-napper

<br

Here, let me deal you in...

Post by Scorch »

not to sound to you know rude, but I have to turn in a kick ass robot on tuesday and all the robots that came with Crobots have been beaten by my bot, however I need to test it against some other bots to make sure my bot is fit to fight, its currently in the phase where I tear it apart and rebuild it from scratch <img src=http://www.ezboard.com/intl/aenglish/im ... rassed.gif ALT=":O"> , O well thanks anyways

ARRGH!

I'm sorry. Really I am. I wish you'd told me the deadline to start with; I really go out of my way to help with homework.

BTW - My mother-in-law is spending yet another week with us. Her flight back home leaves at 3:45 on Saturday - right in the middle of our LAN party. <img src=http://www.ezboard.com/intl/aenglish/im ... /frown.gif ALT=":(">
XMEN member
Card-carrying DTM
OKL Fish-napper

<br

Here, let me deal you in...

It's a trick!! The wifey has double-teamed you with Heavy Offense! Those devious female armors can't be trusted, she is manipulating her mother's ticket information to keep you from playing TRIBES!!!

Onward!!
