Dismay: The Portent

Well, after much hacking on this thing, and a <!--EZCODE BOLD START--><b> BUNCH</b><!--EZCODE BOLD END--> of help from RedSirus (Thank you VERY much, Red!) I've gotten a big hunk of my next ToB up and ready to go. <!--EZCODE EMOTICON START :) --><img src=http://www.ezboard.com/intl/aenglish/im ... /smile.gif ALT=":)"><!--EZCODE EMOTICON END--> <br><br>You may notice a few extra characters in this besides Red and myself. Rogue, for one. A long time ago, I made a post about who wanted to be in my next ToB, and Rogue was one of the people that replied. Rogue is now an ace pilot and a skilled mechanic in this ToB.<br><br>Then there's Masters, Peterson, and Birt. These three are a group of trainees that study under Bug, primarily as an infiltration and special-ops squad. <br><br>Warren M'Koth is a doctor who has the daunting task of caring for a member of a species for which he has no books. He's been in several other ToB's I've written.<br><br>This ToB is really just a set-up for the stuff I want to do in the future, which are some pretty strenuous battles. You may notice some foreshadowing; it's supposed to be there, and I cut the story off where I did intentionally, just to build a little suspense. <!--EZCODE EMOTICON START ;) --><img src=http://www.ezboard.com/intl/aenglish/im ... s/wink.gif ALT=";)"><!--EZCODE EMOTICON END--> I promise when you find out what Bug's problem is, you'll like it. <!--EZCODE EMOTICON START :) --><img src=http://www.ezboard.com/intl/aenglish/im ... /smile.gif ALT=":)"><!--EZCODE EMOTICON END--> <br><br>Also, this ToB, while it builds on the Tribes universe, is in <!--EZCODE BOLD START--><b> no</b><!--EZCODE BOLD END--> way attempting to be totally canonical. I can't--Hexabolic has explicitly stated that there are <!--EZCODE ITALIC START--><i> NO</i><!--EZCODE ITALIC END--> alien species in the Tribes Universe. That's OK... I'm just building on the Tribes Universe, simply because it's a GREAT universe to work with. Plenty of background to draw stuff from, and the tech is pretty impressive as well. I've skipped most of that tech this time--this is strictly a character-building ToB.<br><br>The date is a few years before the 'current' date in T2. Just long enough ago that the new weapons in T2 are still <!--EZCODE ITALIC START--><i> new</i><!--EZCODE ITALIC END-->, and the humans haven't yet formed the Pact against the BioDerms.<br><br>I've also made this an RTF file and uploaded to my webspace at Earthlink. I did that for ease of posting, mostly. The thing is 21 pages long, and while I like EZBoard, I'm in no mood to make a 21-page post that will probably lose half the formatting I put into it. You may have the file load with an extremely large font, so feel free to crank down the zoom level in your word processor.
