The luckiest longshot in tribes....

Post by Ravok99 »

You all HAVE to know this one...drat it I wish I had a demo of it. Like my magic missile (AB!! Woohoo!) and my MA Disk of Doom (Bender!! Luck!!), I have performed a snipe of dreams.

Map=Iceridge
Target=Enemy Capper
Distance to target=unknown

I am on the high hill of the BE side, waiting for the side-grab, or the front-grab. Here he comes jetting over the low hill. I shoot. "Missed me!" He taunts as he grabs the flag.

He hops over the hill, and down. Climbing up the far side of the distant hills, I shoot again. "Missed me!" He then continually taunts. I follow the fading red triangle down the far side and moving back up the very range I am standing on. The triangle disappears, but I am counting in my head his speed and distance. I take my best shot.

A red streak penetrates into the grey fog, The world seems to stop and wait in silence. For a moment I hear nothing. Then a taunt come, "missed me!" one more time, and then it is silenced mid-stream.

[XMENLongshot|DTM has felled (player missed me) with a sniper shot.]

No one says a word, and I am speechless. It is as though shock hits the entire game for a moment as our flag is returned. There is no, "Nice shot!" "Woohoo!" "Alright!" There is just that wierd silence when no one moves, no one is getting killed, and no one can figure out quite what happened.

It is by far the luckiest shot I have ever made.

XMENLongshot|DTM "You'll never take me alive!! DOH!!!"

Got one for you

That kicks mano.
Her is another one I've told in the DTM forum. (I remember some more of the specifics)
I was playing Sacrabe. Standing on the tower in the middle in heavy with a mortar defending my with intent to keep. Well one of my teammates in light armor comes screaming down the hill from our base doing a ski run. This run and boy was he hauling it. He made past the valley in record time and was flying over the hill that lead to the nmy base. Just atthat same time he crested the hill two nmys flew over their hill. Two on one it wasn't pretty. My friend ran away a lot before doing the dance of death with these two. They were at it for about ten seconds. Quite a long time and I noticed that they were staying in the same area. So quickly I squeezed of three mortar rounds at like a 45 degree angle or really close to it. Remember since I'm on the tower I have quite a height advantage so this was like extream, extream range for the mortar. I go back to watching the fight, fully expecting the mortars to land short. All three jetpacks must have gone dry because they wer only doing little hops now. My ally running backward followed not so close by the two nmys. Well here comes the green smoke of my first mortar and BAM!!! The first one lands right in front of the lead nmy. He goes from full forward to full reverse at my mortar's explosion throws his lifeless body over a nearby mountian. startled the second guy turns to look at where the shot came from. Bam the mortar lands right on him. Blows apart like a bomb inside his armor. The third mortar lands pounding the already dead bodies into mush or what ever. I was zoomed all the way in to see that.
I type V-A-H as soon as my team mate saw me and dropped laughing as the Shazbots and WTF came from the other team.

That's awesome Dark Knife and Ravok.

Nearest I've ever come to your r33tness (j/k) is a blind grenade shot over a hill on RollerCoaster.

I was chasing a flag capper who was zoooooooming away from me at light speed (I had no speed and was running up hill). I decided to lob some grenades over the hill he just crested to try and slow him down. The last 'nade that I cut loose took him out! I jetted over the crest of the hill and returned the flag. Not bad for a tired ole jelly, eh?

You're right Iceman, I love it when the 'Hail Mary' shots connect!

I also love it when I'm repairing the ROX and it perks up and nails a flag capper (before I've even finished repairing it). At that point, I feel like I've really contributed to the defense with my repair gun. <img src=http://www.ezboard.com/intl/aenglish/im ... /smile.gif ALT=":)">
<IMG SRC="http://homepages.go.com/~keeter67/slime ...
