Non-'puter stuff. Photography, hot rods, or tropical fish for example

OOB

Post by XMENPorsche »

OOB = Out Of Bounds - a technique for making a 2D image appear to be 3 dimensional. I've done a bunch of these with baseball images so I thought I'd give it a shot with an MX pic. Thoughts?

haha, he's jumping the hill and is about to hit the cameraman ;)

There's something about the color that's bothering me... maybe it's just me. The way the color is faded makes it look like a humid 110 degree day. Other than that the 3d effect is quite convincing.

If the yellow background was a shade of brown or green it would feel better. The yellow doesn't seem to belong there when looking at the rider.

I've already posted on TPF, but I STILL think that's the best one of yours I've seen.

Except for the background color. :)

Yeah, most people have a problem with the background color. According to Photoshop it's a yellow/black gradient. I'm gonna try a few different colors and you guys can tell me what you think.

Okay, this is a gold/black gradient. Better?

Schaaaaaaweet!

I'd also like to see one where you have a shot of the track, without the other rider. :D

I'm not sure I follow you. Both riders were in this same image. Can you explain a bit?

Hey Porsche,

Basically, what I was wondering is what it would look like with the rider you have coming out of the image, with an empty track, as if he was the only rider.

Don't get me wrong, I love your image, I was just thinking out loud with a different idea of composing the shot. :D

I dunno. Let me see if I can find another shot that would lend itself well to an OOB and see what I can come up with. Actually, any shot would work well as an OOB, but if I try to work with a profile shot it would take me HOURS just to work around the spokes in the wheels.
