FREE...alternative very good AntiVirus Program

Post by XMEN Iceman »

This program is becoming the geek rage at my work.
It is a free Antivirus program called AVG from www.grisoft.com

AVG AntiVirus

I just installed it on my mothers computer because I am having so many issues getting older versions cleaned out of the registry to install a new version of Norton that I have had enough. So I tried this. So far I am very impressed. Automatic free updates, etc.

Go try it out, it started out in the Linux community and it now available for Windows.

<embed align=left src=http://www.thzclan.com/avatars/ezice.swf menu=false quality=high bgcolor=#000000 width=217 height=166 type=application/x-shockwave-flash pluginspage=http://www.macromedia.com/shockwave/dow ...

XMEN Iceman [DTM]
Founder and Leader of the Base Tribes XMEN Clan
Proud member of the Dragon Talon Mercenaries teamplayers Guild
Citizen of New Fenecia

You weren't much of a challenge - T2 bot after killing Iceman

- click on avatar for links - no, not sausage links!

is it better then the trendmicro free scan? I very rarely get viruses, expecially on this home computer. The one at school is portected by norton, but this home computer is old (P3 600 256ram and a voodoo3 3000) so I am unwilling to spend money on it especially when I have a really fast computer at school.

Anyways my point is, I have had little experience with viruses so I don't know what works well and what doesn't. I am also unwilling to put my system at risk on purpose just to test antivirus software. (It may be an old machine but it still works)

Hey, thanks for reminding me, Iceman! I don'ot mean to burst your bubble on it's 'newness', but I was using it two years ago. I'd totally forgotten about it with my new computer, though! Ur-thanks for the link!

You know, I think I might've, years ago. I thought everyone knew about it.

Besides, "no one asked". I have a ton of secret info, and I just don't know who'd be interested in what.

Well, as an XMEN, you're required to divulge any and all secret information your Mind has accumulated since before our implantation of the XMEN Mind Control Device. We're fairly confident that we've extracted most information from you after that, but we're still trying to build complete histories of our membership, and insert all that knowledge and memories into clones that we've made of each and every one of you....

Damn, I said too much! Well, I know that "Gambit wets his bed."

Really, guys, don't you remember? You didn't use the mind-control device on me. I joined while it was under repairs. Really freaked out Ice and Porsche, though - didn't they freak out when they saw someone join of their own free will? Porsche jumped off that dam, and it took us a week to find him running with the animals in "I LUV THE WOLFMAN" boxers.

We just leaked the story of the device being broken. It wasn't.

Actually, Iceman thought it was, but it was just a case of weak batteries. I think Porsche jumped off the dam because we tested the new ones on him, but I'm having trouble remembering. I think I was standing too close to it when we put 'em in.

XMEN member
Card-carrying DTM
OKL Fish-napper

Though a program be but three lines long, someday it will have to be maintained.
The Tao of Programming
