I always found Ad Aware to be a superior tool. Spy Bot is good and will remove a few things that Ad Aware will not, so running both is not a bad idea. However beware with SpyBot since it will flag files as malicious which are safe and part of the operating system! In this sense Ad Aware is a better application by far to install on a beginner's machine. I stopped using Spy Bot altogether a while back.
