X2 - the movie

Post by XMEN Iceman »

Ok, got it for Xmas....and don't laugh...I did not see it in the movies. I sincerely enjoyed it much more than the first one. Especially the new role of Iceman.

Anyway. Some discussion questions.

1. Is there a 3rd movie planned?

2. Did Jean Gray evolve/survive the dam burst?

3. Pyro...interesting character.

4. I though Nightcrawler was incredible, the actor was stunning in his character.

Since the story is pretty much laid out that Jean Grey becomes Phoenix, then I'd say she survives. That was kind of hinted at there at the end.

I think there will be a third movie. The two movies have been pretty successful. And X2 was a pretty darn good movie, even for someone that didn't watch the cartoon, or read the comics (my parents).

Saw it once in theaters, and just bought the DVD.

Enjoyable movie overall, and yes, Jean will likely make a comeback. You didn't know about the Phoenix thing, Putz?

Still nuts about Hugh Jackman's portrayal of Wolverine.

"Fare well wherever you fare,
until your eyries receive you at your journey's end."
Rohan BBS
XMEN clan BBS

I don't know if they're planning a third, but I'd think it was in everyone's interests to do so. The biggest problem I heard about during the production of X2 was Halle Berry demanding more screen time for Storm.

The story pretty much requires Jean to survive, though to do justice to the Pheonix story they'll have to either devote a whole movie to the issue or make it an ongoing thing. In other words, we'll still be hanging at the end of the next one.

I liked how Iceman and Rogue were wearing XMEN suits in the final scene. Whad'ya expect, yellow spandex? Also how they worked in so many of the other characters (kids). I really loved the jailbreak.

For the movie as a whole, I certainly liked it. It didn't have any of those stupid beat-your-head-on-the-wall lines (toad, lightning, 'nuff said), though it didn't have many of Wolvie's zinging one-liners, either. I did reluctantly come to the conclusion, though, that I think it should have been shorter. Not sure where the best place to cut would've been, but thankfully I'm not the director.

XMEN member
Card-carrying DTM
OKL Fish-napper

Though a program be but three lines long, someday it will have to be maintained.
The Tao of Programming

Saw it in Theaters and Bought the DVD and once collected all of their comics. I dont collect anymore (too expensive!!!))

I liked the ICEMAN stuff also, he is one of my favorites!!!

Jean Grey should come back as phoenix. I know they could spend a whole movie on it gambit but I do not think they have to.

I see them doing it like Gandolf the Grey into Gandalf the White storyline... where he tells of what happened to him in the afterlife in a minute or two...... That should be enough for today's standards....Most folks probably would not understand anyway.....

Halle Berry probably did want more time but I read that she was "too big" and headline actor to do that role again.... No matter, someone else can do her.

Characters that must keep playing their roles. Charles X.,
Wolverine, Iceman, Rogue, Cyclops, Pyro, Magneto, Nightcrawler, cant think of Magneto's sidekick.......DANG.....uhmmmmm she can change into anyone she touches....hmmmmm.. oh well someone can post her name.
All of those actors would have to come back for sure I think to make it successful.....

I think they will do X3, Remember how Charles kept referring to a "WAR is coming" theme??? I think a third movie, they bring Phoenix into the mold and have some sort of huge Magneto Vs Charles fight. Bring in a whole buncha mutants and fight until the end and then they wrap up that series......
Three movies would be a good run for a successful franchise.
I have loved both so far....
ITIMAN

Edited by: <A HREF=http://pub141.ezboard.com/bxmenclan.sho ... Asha, it's spelled Romjin, not Romaine. Rebecca is definitely not a lettuce.

"Fare well wherever you fare,
until your eyries receive you at your journey's end."
Rohan BBS
XMEN clan BBS

I get to just sit back and enjoy the entertainment without getting bent out of shape over whether or not the movie stays true to a comic book character. Well, really, it would be ridiculous to attempt to incorporate the whole convoluted, episodic XMEN comic plotline (of which I'm only familiar with bits and pieces) into these movies. They've already broken that aspect irretrievably, but I'm pretty satisfied with the result.

Personally, when I went to see Xmen, I threw out most every storyline about them, and went to see a good popcorn flick. It went above my expectations for that, so I'm quite happy.

Only reason I even thought about the storylines this time, was to figure out what was happening to Jean and her abilities. I though, "Oh, ok, Phoenix..." and went back to watching where they were gonna take that idea in the film.

I try not to nitpick comic book movies too much.
