Once visibility gets down to less than a quarter-mile.... then I get all paranoid on the roads. And that is considering that I am a guy with no depth perception and a flaky remaining eye. Any standard person with binocular vision should be doing better than I am. The one thing I truly fear is ice. T...

Traveler's Wireless

Wireless is one of those things I never got into. That's me being old-school. My mom, however, is into wireless network access. This is mainly because she travels around the country a lot and makes use of the various Wi-Fi hotspots that RV campsites and truckstops make available to their customers. ...

Asha's not far off. EVE is commonly known as a 'massively multiplayer spreadsheet' or 'MS Office Online'. All for good reason. The learning curve's very steep, the community paranoid beyond belief, and in order to keep up with older players, you need to pick something to specialize in heavily. There...

Asha and I engaged in a comp-stomp, us vs. the AI. Since I didn't want to bring my computer totally to its knees, I didn't have very large unit limits and the AI was set to 'medium'. This resulted in very little attacking on the AI's part. We were able to build up pretty much as we pleased. However,...

Portal is a gem. Really. Pitch-black humour, great mechanics, good brain-teasing puzzles, and a nice tie-in or two with Half-Life 2.

Zero Punctuation's review of The Orange Box (no spoilers, plenty of harsh, high-speed language.

Can't recommend it enough.

Actually, I think now the thing to do is to join up in the Halcyon chatroom, and we can go from there. Much easier than just waiting in the in-game lobby.

Firing up now, look for 'AmbushBugDTM' somewhere in GPGnet. I think. Never done this online, so we'll see if I can make it work. :)

Actually, upon consideration, I'll make an XMENMegaFishPlex game with a password of 'dogfish', just to keep out the riffraff.

Patch away. There's a couple three new units, plus performance upgrades and bugfixes. I just patch via the GPG.net program, handles it all for me.

Or perhaps a comp-stomp if we feel like being helpful to each other? :) I'd be all for a weekend set-up.

Professor of simplicity my foot. That was a string of jargon. (Personal pet peeve: authors who say they're gonna simplify things without actually doing so) Still, from what I've read and seen, this is not a failure of the system itself, but rather the people within it. Namely, a bunch of investors m...

Yeah, you can very easily have an iMac of that style as a learner machine. Just keep a spare USB mouse and keyboard around for spills and you're set. You don't even need Apple-brand mice/keyboards, either.
